O Gabinete

1999

Two rooms, one above the other, one light washed and other darker. The walls of the old boat workshop half-destroyed, made of wood laths, let the afternoon sunlight entering the windows come in. I installed acrylic filters in eleven different hues on every gap, window, and doorway in this small area on the corner of a large wooden shed, one of the spaces of the 2nd Bienal do Mercosul. As the windows were turned toward the west, sunlight moved in the area throughout the afternoon until it changed color at the end of the day to finally disappear. The passing of time was described in the space by the projected color-shades, sometimes distorted on the floor, sometimes denser due to the effect of numerous filter layers when the sun set and a horizontal light went through the room.
