Sharjah, 2013

One of the works projected for the courtyard houses, for the Sharjah Biennial, Conversation was created for a long corridor-like room at Bait Al Serkal first floor, connected to a veranda by a sequence of eight doors. Doors were removed to install a double layer of transparent, colored, and cutout acrylic screens that could be seen from both inside and outside the room. The drawings and patterns were inspired by elements of domestic architecture found in Brazilian cities or in the Emirates. Air and light circulation were altered but preserved in a way, people could still communicate visually and verbally through these new elements.
