Duplas

2014

A pair as the minimum indivisible unit to perceive color: one color is always experienced and defined in relation to another. In these sliding and pivoting window frames called Duplas, the original glass panes are replaced by acrylic sheets in various colors that affect each other. Installed in blind walls, these are windows through which one cannot see or doors that do not connect spaces or the inside to the outside. They are enclosed into themselves and restricted to the relations they contain. However, these relations are not fixed; they change whenever we move their parts, and one color inclines, covers, or exposes, or overlaps upon another.
